Set on a compact footprint, this house is designed around simple materials and thoughtful planning. A clay-red exterior wraps around the home, echoing the colour of the African tulip tree that dominates the front of the site. The tree was embraced—its form guiding the shape of the building. The architecture steps in and out around the tree’s canopy, with bold projections and soft recesses that reflect its presence. This thoughtful shaping also anticipates future buildings on either side, ensuring the house remains private on the outside and expansive on the inside. Reliance Industries, a renowned multinational conglomerate company, consulted Atelier ARBO, an architectural firm based in Mumbai, for the master planning and design development of five separate electrical substations for a Residential Township in Jamnagar, Gujarat. Catering to the expansive township sprawled across an area of 750 acres, the five individual substations have been planned in different zones and cover a cumulative area of about 17,975 sq. ft, with a separate road for entrance and a compound wall to secure them from trespassers and unwanted intrusions.   House 300 The House is situated on a small quarter acre plot, steeply sloping down from the access road and facing a small valley, a waterbody in the middle and a rising cliff on the other side of the plot. It had a lot of disadvantages!
