The project comes from the need to expand the factory's production while respecting the existing buildings. The extension unifies the existing complex by using the same precast concrete façade and adding a play of colors based on the brand's image.   Beyond the building itself, this project speaks of the importance of architectural intervention in industrial environments. A canteen, a meeting point, a place for socialising, a time to relax and unwind... We were asked to make the company canteen just like that, a space where employees could relax while taking a break from work, with the conditions and aesthetic concerns that anybody would have in their own homes. This gave rise to a kind of open space viewpoint, contained in terms of materiality but meticulous in intent and in details. This industrial warehouse is located in Águeda, Portugal, in an area without any architectural references and surrounded by forest. With no relevant references and a layout which consists of a warehouse area for finished product storage, a cargo area and office space, the proposal is intended to reflect the simplicity of the solution, given the simplicity of the requirements. Starting from the shape, a rectangle, which enables the use of the maximum warehouse area (main function), a fraction of that space is reserved for the offices, in the area closest to the entrance. The plot is located in the village of Aguada de Cima (Águeda, Portugal) and is surrounded by agricultural and forestry lands. The terrain converges topographically to its central point, which rises slightly in relation to its limits and that’s where the building implants itself. Its composition is made of three gable roof volumes that intersect themselves at the same point and establish direct relations of connection and functionality.The building has two floors, one of them underground. Let's start with the location: an industrial area. Trucks move in and out, work is being done. A storage yard and a concrete factory are not exactly watchmaker workshops, they are – or were – rough. The position of manufacturing halls and office containers results from operational planning, urban planning is hardly involved.
