Alliance

When a third organisation joined an Alliance based in the Zuidas area of Amsterdam, the current office was found wanting in terms of space and functionality. The office is generally used by a small permanent team that is always present, however, one week a month, during the joint meeting sessions, it also has to accommodate 100 to 150 people. Not only does this profile require an extremely flexible office space, ample meeting facilities for both small and very large groups are also needed. DZAP designed and completely renovated the office interior for this Alliance. Along with the interior, the project included extensive upgrades to the HVAC system, smart office automation, state-of-the-art yet easy-to-use AV equipment and work to optimis... More

atlassian

What makes you enjoy going to work? For Atlassian it is the core business. The company develops software for cooperation and agile work processes and has been selected as best employer in the world. Everything is based on the idea that people achieve more when they enjoy their work. How that is manifested in practice is clear from the interior of the new Amsterdam office. An Amsterdam canal belt building dating from the 1950s has been converted into an open and informal workspace. The company’s character connects informally with the Amsterdam building’s local identity. Atlassian is an international company, but also aims to reflect the local identity in the atmosphere and design of its offices. The reference point in Amsterdam was... More

Vertical House

Located on one of the few lots in Dallas elevated enough to enjoy a view of the downtown skyline, the five-story Vertical House rises dramatically above the treetops to capture views of the surrounding gardens and the skyline beyond. Characterized by clean lines, sheer glass walls, and sculptural sun shades, this sharply-detailed house offers an intriguing counterpoint to the tropical ambiance of its forest-like setting. The client, an avid collector of exotic plants, wanted a house that would not only maximize views of the site, but also maintain privacy from neighboring properties. In response, the house was conceived as two interlocking, contrasting volumes: one half is transparent and oriented toward views of the... More

Instant house kindergarten

In a strictly orthogonal urban context, in the street of Via Ugo Betti in Milan, we decided to create an oasis for children, that will break down the rigorosity with the help of organic and playful shapes. The design of the building and its surroundings will create a bridge between the neighborhood and the children by orienting itself to the main directions of the site, by respecting its weather context and by embracing the nature that is already on there. The Small Explorers Kindergarten resulted from a careful analysis of the site´s existing landscape and context, in order to emphasize and preserve as many of the present qualities as possible. The building covers 679 square meters and is able to accommodate around 90 children. The k... More

Villa Al Manara

The undeveloped lots along Beach Road in Dubai’s Jumeirah Beach district offer an opportunity to nestle villas behind garden walls and help owners fulfill their dreams of a true 21st century home within a vast neighborhood of more traditional villas. However, with garden walls a normal entity, the “street appeal” of villas makes one look just like another. This is an opportunity for more conservative clients to build to their hearts’ desire. The Al Manara villa is a distinct example of modern architecture with a generous 10,000 GSF plan. The materials include ashlar patterned slate sliding, stain-less steel and broad expanses of glass to allow views and light to penetrate into the living areas of the villa. More
