Plissé House
The BriefPlissé House is the transformation and extension of a Victorian family home, set within an established London street of Victorian and Edwardian terraces. The brief called for generous, light-filled spaces with a strong connection to the long, south facing garden but the proximity of neighbouring properties made privacy a fundamental design problem to solve, not an afterthought.

Our deep retrofit of a Grade II Listed Georgian townhouse in Islington transformed this period property into a contemporary home, balancing historic preservation with modern living through thoughtful restoration of original features and strategic spatial reconfiguration.
This Grade II Listed Georgian Townhouse, set in the historic Thornhill Square, which together with the adjacent Thornhill Crescent forms part of the wider ensemble of the Barnsbury Estate of Islington.

Islington | Grade II Listed Townhouse
Rees Architects designed the extension and full refurbishment of this Grade II Listed townhouse in Islington. We were also responsible for planning and listing building content, building regulations, interior design and project management for the build.
This Grade II listed townhouse in Islington spans three storeys – a ground floor, first floor and second floor with a basement. It also had a bathroom installed in the loft, which didn’t make the most of the space and had no window.

Vaudeville Court
Vaudeville Court began life as an open design competition to explore what affordable family housing in Islington could look like in the 21st century. The site was an underused set of garages, serving a tower block, located at the end of two terraced streets.Our response was based around a new philosophy of ‘home-sown’ housing. We imagined the scheme as a holistic, productive landscape, where every single surface is designed to be useful. The design features 13 dwellings in a mixture of duplex homes on the ground and first floors, and two bedroom apartments above.
