Herta Mohr Building
De Zwarte Hond has completed the circular renovation and extension of Leiden University’s former Cluster Zuid building, now named Herta Mohr, serving the Faculty of Humanities. Originally designed by Joop van Stigt in the late 1970s, this structuralist masterpiece now offers 11,400 square meters of space, comprising over 700 teaching spaces, two lecture theatres, work and meeting rooms, and libraries for both the African Studies Centre and the Middle Eastern Studies program.

ITC Annex
The current trend in The Netherlands is to recycle existing buildings rather than to replace them. In the old city of Leiden Mirck Architecture has designed such a rejuvenation for a 15th century landmark canal house. In the 1960s the building’s interior was effectively destroyed, which sad event opened interesting perspectives for the building’s redevelopment. de Verleyding
On a piece of wasteland in Leiden near the railway tracks a new apartment building, ‘the Verleyding’ has risen. In the building are 112 rental apartments for young professionals between 18 and 35 years. The properties are suitable for 1- or 2-person households, and have a surface of approximately 30 m2 (one-room apartment) and 45 m2 (two-room apartment). The name of the building refers to the name of the city, but also means 'seduction' in Dutch. The building can be seen form the inner city, and seduces people to visit this new neighbourhood.The area is bounded by the railway, a pond and a small park.
