Recycling cooking oil is an action of utmost importance to preserve natural resources in the future, given its considerable polluting capacity. Therefore, it is essential to avoid the disposal of used oil in toilets, drains, sinks, or together with organic waste. The company Ambiental Santos plays a crucial role in collecting this oil, transforming it into various products. Furthermore, it is the only company in Brazil specialized in vegetable oil collection that has a complete effluent treatment station. In pursuit of future expansion and aiming to enhance the organization of its industrial park, Ambiental approached us for the development of a new building intended for the administrative sector.

Nantou City Guesthouse by Neri&Hu responds to the cultural heritage of the City's buildings with their latest adaptive reuse project
In Nantou City, Shenzhen, Neri& Hu has converted a nine-storey residential building into a guesthouse. Wrapped in metal mesh, the adaptive reuse project features eleven guestrooms and strives to address the cultural heritage of buildings in Nantou City.

Blending with the scale of the narrow alleyways of the urban village, the guesthouse’s small entrance blends with its surroundings while offering a modern appearance with its light steel screen-like cladding. Engaging organically with the urban fabric, the new entrance to the guesthouse is created by extending a side street into the heart of the building, as if inviting neighbours and friends into one’s private home.
