`12 Houses in Icod´ is a hybrid of 12-dwellingapartment block and detached houses with garden, what is a consequence of 2 singularities:firstly, its territorial geolocation, and secondly, being promoted by local private initiative. Tenerife is a fragile hilly island in the Atlantic with a population of about 500 inhabitants per km2. A low population density along with a high rate of land occupation at its peak of oversaturation, what means non-sustainable chances. The promotion came from a neighbor instinctively aware of the island circumstances. Our challenge was to enhance this natural collectivity and to focus all new houses equally on this garden in such a way that it would not result in a subdivision into different smaller backyards. Tankefuld
Tankefuld is a prize winning sustainable public housing project which creates social interaction between its users, based on a DGNB approach.
Tankefuld (7000 m2) is a public housing project that, just like us as people, is defined by different characteristics.
A community house and total of 67 low energy homes, from multi-storey apartments to traditional townhouses, some with balconies, some with roof terraces. The flat roofs are designed with 3 different solutions: roof terraces, photovoltaic panels or sedum, to support all 5 categories of sustainability due to DGNB standards.
