It's always fun to see the evolution of our projects, as they change hands with new ownership. Our original client for Benedict Canyon was from the sports world, and he wanted an open-plan house for entertaining, that would also include a photography studio and gallery space for displaying his large scale artworks by him. A Relaxing vibe was the driving thought behind the conceptualization of AA Urban Villas. The building itself was a mix used between a working space and a house. Lower levels are used for the work area where the owner works there. So the idea was to create a different surrounding resort feel like a house on the top floor. DESIGN INTENT Set in the Mayacamas Mountains between Sonoma and Napa, the site for this weekend home is just 10 minutes from downtown Calistoga, but it seems much further removed. The owners envisioned a retreat where they could build lasting memories with their children, entertain friends and enjoy the wine country’s slower pace. Our intent for the project was to capitalize upon the unique nature of the site and views, while respecting the character of the land. Located in Ludhiana, a major town of Punjab, the design language of the Accord House is largely an exploration of a visual of clean magnificent form with the main material being the concrete, in dark coloration, with a texture that extends to the wooden elements complemented with the landscaping.
