Bisley Showroom, Clerkenwell

FUTURE Designs has created a bespoke lighting scheme for the interior of Bisley’s new showroom in the heart of Clerkenwell – the home of the UK’s design community. The stunning new space is multi-functional, used as an office, showroom and event space and an important chapter in the evolution of Bisley, showcasing its ability to provide a complete furniture solution for the contemporary workplace. This meant that FUTURE designs had to provide a scheme that would not only show case Bisley’s portfolio of first class workplace solutions but also provide the very best in workplace lighting designs, promoting wellness and comfort for Bisley’s employees. Assur - Nippur In this design, the distressed, grainy lines that partially obscure the emerging organic images in Assur - Eufrate, Assur - Seleucia and Assur - Tigri are now clear of interference. Yet their texture is still uneven and uncertain, creating a shimmering effect across the surface. So we have a structure, but one that’s softened by shading, and by a muted colour palette. The subtle uniformity of Assur - Nippur lends an understated precision to floors in many situations – from offices and retail to hospitality and leisure. And its durability and practicality mean its effects will endure even in high-traffic locations. Interface Histonium

Most linear patterns are predictable and familiar. But with Histonium, the lines are disturbed, rippling unevenly to resemble flimsy fabric, translucent and torn. Yet there are vestiges of regularity – an indefinable rhythm that breathes life into an otherwise decaying image. The resulting effect is a ghostly contradiction of transparency and opacity, both reflecting and absorbing light. Interface Londinium

When lines are broken, their stripes become random shapes, slipping and sliding into new compositions of texture, light and shadow. The effects can be dramatic, as Londinium shows, causing us to imagine mirages of movement. This design is shockingly modern, in colours that seem almost metallic: bright chrome, steel or copper, but with the shine obscured by a sense of permanent dusk.
