The LEAF

Located on one of the highest hills of the Valley, the site commands a magnificent view of the Himalayan range. As a part of a bigger hospitality development, the Leaf includes 20 branded villas that will be managed by an international operator. Concealed within a dense forest, the arrangements of buildings are placed strategically to reduce environmental impacts while maximizing the views, privacy and sunlight. The main drive meanders through the site, providing access to individual buildings and finally culminating at the clubhouse located at the highest point. the BougainVILLA

Given the limited frontage for this apartment building, the organization of the façade becomes a critical design solution for providing adequate light and ventilation, outdoor spill-outs and giving the building it’s identity. Located in a moderate climate zone and with a south facing frontage, the spill-outs of various apartments balance the depth of balconies with the winter sunlight into the rooms. This results in carving the deep balconies into a semi-circular form. The LEARNING TERRACES

BVS is undergoing a major expansion to increase enrollment from 800 to 3000 students, quadrupling the size of the campus within a tight and irregular site. The central challenge being how to incorporate the new program without decreasing the student to open space ratio. The solution organize and distribute programs in a way that creates large open spaces in the form of terraces at multiple levels.
