Ya Space celebrates the vibrant colours and geometries of the Memphis Group

In Hangzhou, China, Ya Space is a furniture exhibition space by Li Wenqiang/PIG Design featuring Memphis furniture as the main exhibit. The project name refers to the nickname of Memphis City in China (‘Cliff City – or ‘Ya’ in the Chinese language) but also conveys the surprising feeling and unexpected sensory experience Memphis furniture brings out in people. Complex Task S+S interior design and architecture studio faced a challenge to create a stylistically dynamic and modern design for a children’s café Cosmos located at the temple of Moscow Soviet trade and exhibition – VDNKH Cosmos pavilion. The exhibition traces the 30-year career, from 80’s until now, of one of the most eclectic personality of architecture and international design, through a rich selection of drawings, interior design and architecture projects, objects, illustrations, videos.
