Miranda Palmeto is a productive house through the mixed-use of neighborhood-scale. It is part of a series of architectural interventions aimed at enhancing the Palmeto (a collection of palms) at the Cholul Nursery, a 2.5-hectare green space with several decades of history dedicated to the production and sale of tropical plants. Wóolis was named by the workers, or rather artisans, who gave life to the built space. Its meaning in Mayan is ball, round, circle; they called the house this way referring to the central cylinder, the heart of the project. Casa Picasso is a project that turns every square inch of available space into a functional one. Indoor-outdoor interactions serve as the foundation of the project’s design, and the use of regional materials and textures typically found in the Yucatan Peninsula provide a sense of identity.Located in Merida’s historic downtown district, this 145 square meter house is an oasis in the city. Sonata, as in music, is a compositional procedure that uses two contrasting themes, complexity in its unity and simplicity in its repetition.  Sonata is a quest, a constant quest to offer a unique product within a market full with similar options in size, program and price.   The client asked for the project to be “different”, but economically accessible, in which "nothing felt extra"; any material or element that he felt didn’t have a functional purpose, was going to be removed at the time of construction. This project, located in the historic downtown of Merida, Yucatan, has been restored by Workshop architects. The original house had 4 rooms and the front yard. This spaces were transformed into the Foyer, Guest bedroom with a bathroom and the Living room. The wooden beams and the angled door frames were taken back to life with a pastel color scheme, natural wood furniture and discreet light fixtures. The art pieces complete the young and sophisticated atmosophere.The kitchen space opens to the main Patio. The colors and materials are used in a more contemporary way but with a continuity from the main house.A very lush garden with beautiful fruit trees give the freshness that Merida's hot weather needs. If we talk about architecture, in recent years it seems that the trend is to use synthetic and innovative materials, which are at the same time more expensive. Our concern for the “Raw House” project was exactly the opposite; the use natural, common and readily available materials in the city leaving them naked and exposed to appreciate their intrinsic beauty. The first challenge came with the dimensions of plot, an urban waste resulting from a subdivided family home; the area of 6.5 x 27.5 with a west facade was not the most encouraging for housing needs.
