Like force vectors, the apartment building’s irregular spatial structure pushes the projecting bay windows and balconies outward and interlocks with the urban space. The urban structure fits like a hinge into the dense neighbourhood of Zurich’s Seefeld. The volumetric concept emerges from the building’s interior: the various room structures nestle around a central concrete core illuminated from above. The flats are entered via a central corridor from which the rooms fan out. A living room measuring over 40 m2 and illuminated on three sides contains a freestanding kitchen placed in the room as a work of carpentry. The 13Chenar residential project referred to us when the construction process was suspended due to the client dissatisfaction. The building was designed by bubble deck system which liberates the interior from structural elements and moved them toward the edges of slabs.They just finished the fourth slab when they asked us to revise their project. We refused to design just a simple facade and proposed a serious set of changes both in architecture and facade. Because of the imposed structural system limitation in making hollows, we decided to focus on the edges of the building and define a hierarchy from outside in. The building will be constructed on a plot facing the south, on the suburbs of Kos town, in a neighborhood with few yet built-up plots. It will consist of a ground apartment and two apartments on the upper floor.The building is placed mirrored to the existing block of flats, to the west. This will protect the vital zone on either side of the common boundary, which will provide both blocks of flats with light, while creating good neighborly conditions.All the five facades of the construction (including the roof garden and the "blind" eastern facade) are composed of the absolutely necessary elements. The exterior elevation can be identified as the literal identity of any building, which is why the CAS team designed the elevation of this 5 story apartment in Bengaluru, India to be as memorable as possible. Without any flash, glamor or glitz, CAS used understated materials like white and grey stone to encapsulate an elegant and sophisticated aura in the exterior design of this building. Furthermore, a green terrace design has been incorporated on the fourth floor to make the most of the surrounding views while giving the residents a communal space to enjoy.
