George Street Plaza & Community Centre by Adjaye Associates honours Sydney’s Aboriginal heritage
Adjaye Associates, in collaboration with local contemporary artist Daniel Boyd, unveil the George Street Plaza and Community building that draws inspiration from Sydney’s lost history.

Artist Residence
Designed for an artist and an engineer, the residence is located mid-block in a downtown neighborhood surrounded by common Seattle cottages and bungalows. The design brief called for a work studio central to the layout of the house, ample white walls for a growing art collection, a strong connection to the gardens and to the life of the street, and lots of natural light. The house is scaled to fit discreetly into its surroundings, and seeks a non-fussy clarity in it’s detailing and materiality that defers to the interesting lives of its occupants.

ROOFINOX PLUS is a ribbed surface through a positiv / negativ embossment. Seen from close up, the decorative ribbed embossing becomes very clear, but it is precisely this relief-like structure that is responsible for the very smooth effect of the roof when viewed from afar. Rosedale
The Rosedale Residence is a ground up 6,000 sf house on the last available site adjacent to the historic Rosedale Conservancy, located in Cleveland Park in northwest Washington, DC. The Conservancy dates back 280 years into Washington history and is home to one of the oldest private residences in the area. Over the years, the neighborhood grew up around the estate as lots bordering the three-acre, conserved green space were sold off. The lawn is now open to the public and serves as a dog park for the community. The last available lot near the conservatory, 3/4 acre, was purchased by a young family interested in building their dream home on these grounds.
