This project was dedicated to the historic reconstruction of an essential part of the Sázava monastery complex. It included a total restoration of the rectory building, of the Baroque church of St. Prokop with a crypt, the torso of a Gothic three-nave with a tower and the arrangement of the surrounding terrain. The new Guesthouse-Hermitage is located within the Monastic Complex of Siloe, which spans an area of 38,000 square meters across a network of hilly pathways. The four living units, designated as external guest accommodations for occasional visitors to the Siloe community, are seamlessly integrated into the natural terrain and have been constructed without altering the surrounding landscape, pioneering a new form of sustainable living. The story of the Franciscan monastery in Rožňava dates back to the begging of the 18th century. Due to the change of the political regime in the second half of the 20th century, it was forced to change its function and gradually began to deteriorate. Civic association Kláštor together with local activists took it upon themselves to transform the monastery into a cultural-creative center with coworking spaces, art studios, accommodation units, a cafe, and a bookshop. An extension project led to a space in which the line between interior and exterior is deliberately light and ethereal – a mere diaphragm between the cloister and the 17th-century monastery that is home to the Truffle Bistrot.The roof, made of interlocking elements, was built very quickly; on the outside, it was covered with a system for climbing plants, with struts, ties and metal mesh that give it the wavy profile of hills and allow it to float over the surface.The wooden dropped ceiling is striking both for the complex wood grain and the truncated-pyramid skylights, which cut through the greenery to create impressive cones of light. Former cloistered convent of the order of the 'Benedettine' dating back to the 16th century The intervention lot I, located in the east wing of the monastery, was entirely recovered following the great deterioration in which it lay. Structural interventions have been made important, as well as necessary, to guarantee the stability of the entire portion. The intervention also saw the complete elimination of incrustations that occurred in the past eras, not recognizing any value in the latter (false ceilings and partitions that did not allow the perception of the uniqueness of the space), bringing to light the original underlying shell. Mardin is a salient cultural and architectural cornerstone of Turkish heritage. The Mor Gabriel Monastery is considered one of the most characteristic structures in Mardin to date. Established toward the end of the 3rd century, it is situated on high ground about a twenty minutes car ride from the city center. Today, the Mor Gabriel Monastery is the oldest surviving Syriac Orthodox monastery in the world. The design intent of the project is to emphasize the importance of topography as it relates to monastery life. DeyrulzafaranMonastery was originally built as the temple of the Sems, a sun worshiping people, to extend and transform the Purple Stupa Monastery in the 4th century. Since the 25th century the Deyrulzafaran served as a Patriarchal Center for 640 years. This part of Mardin’s countryside is found at the edge of history where DeyrulzafaranMonastery peers out from just beyond.Although the Visitor Welcome Center is disconnected from the DeyrulzafaranMonastery, it gives visitors a perception of being in one space.
