Studioarte has merged Arabic ornamentation with whitewashed geometry in this sophisticated coastal sanctuary. Completely reconstructed across two levels, the traditional facade showcases patterned screen entries that would look at home in India, Andalusia or Isfahan. One of the defining features of this style is the use of repetitive patterns and motifs. These patterns are often inspired by the natural world and are used to create intricate designs that are both beautiful and meaningful. Thick wall conceals the light and airy ‘House of Nuns’

Located in Lagos, Portgula, Casa das Freiras or the ‘House of the Nuns’ by Mario Martins Atelier is a patio house concept built on the site of a former vehicle workshop. It is located behind a massive white rendered wall, measuring more than 1m in thickness.
