Nieto Sobejano Arquitectos has completed the restoration and expansion of the Archaeologische Staatssammlung München (Archaeological State Collection Munich). Originally built between 1970 and 1975, the museum is considered one of the most distinguished examples of new museum architecture in Germany from that time. The use of Corten steel, then a relatively unknown material, was a hallmark of the museum’s identity. Global transdisciplinary architecture and design practice Snøhetta has designed a new entrance and outdoor extension for the Norwegian Skimuseet, the world’s oldest ski museum. Celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2023, the new addition provides the Skimuseet (Ski Museum) in Holmenkollen, Oslo, with its own distinct identity, one that offers a pleasing contrast to the impressive Holmenkollen Ski Jump. In addition to restoring the original Museum Arnhem building, complete with characteristic historic dome, Benthem Crouwel Architects have completed this unique new extension wing with an eye-catching facade. North of Copenhagen in Charlottenlund, Denmark, the Ordrupgaard Museum houses a comprehensive collection of French and Danish art from the 19th and early 20th-century. The original museum building is a three-winged, neoclassical style mansion dating back to World War I.
