La Escondida
Located in a mature oak hammock, the clients of La Escondida requested a house that celebrated the lush vegetation and beauty of the landscape while also providing privacy for the family. The structure is oriented so the views from each room highlight specific trees.

The living spaces were aligned around the outdoor spaces to help connect the family’s everyday life to the oak hammock beyond; such a design has the added benefit of filtering daylight into each room. The cantilevered, master bedroom seemingly floats among the trees serves as one example, where morning sunshine is diffused softly through the leaves.
