A ground up design and build of a modern seven bedroom primary residence incorporating sustainable design principles built for an international family of four. The concept revolved around the need for environmental sustainability while having plentiful communal spaces to create ease for a vibrant family and their guests. Equally important was that the private spaces functioned as a retreat. In this inventive interior reimagining of a Romanesque Revival pre-war building which previously served as a whale bone cutting facility, simple textures merge with the beautiful curvature and direction of light within the space. Exquisite pieces add a sophisticated but yet approachable charm to the living spaces. Accented with wood details and marble counters, these understated details provide a timeless elegance. An exemplary exercise in simplicity and elegance, Tribeca Penthouse located on the top two floors of a six-story building was built in 1920. The design approach looked to stripping back the opulence yet keep the penthouse loft feel. A very early inspiration found in castle-like design and atmospheres, led to an emphasis in the monumental and commanding verticality of the space. On a bustling New York boulevard, the architectural design of the building seeks to embrace the historical building elements of the area but with a contemporary approach. The typical earthly colored brick is placed in all the columns of the building interrupted by tilting windows which provide the interior space with plenty of natural light. One Sixty Madison dominates the heart of New York's NoMad (North of Madison Square Park), with an impressive and at the same time "invisible" presence also, thanks to the huge glass mirror surfaces. Columbia University, one of the world most prestigious institutions for arts and sciences, greatly expands its capabilities with this building for interdisciplinary scientific research. The building is located on the Northwest corner of the University’s historic Morningside Heights Campus designed by McKim, Mead and White in 1897. In addition to the design of urban infrastructure and planning, the project adds approximately 4.500 m2 of laboratory space and 2.000 m2 of classroom, office and study space. Within a competitive pool, the PNEUMA Shell was selected to be showcased at the Brooklyn Museum as archived by BROOKLYN DESIGNS 2018 Exhibitions. The same project was also selected to be displayed at Pratt Shows 2018. The project is based on the concept of ANTHROPOCENE, where in non human centered structures are visualized. The pavilion thus designed, arrives at its form by using environmental forces such as water and air pressure, as against standard building materials of brick and stone.The process articulation for the Pavillion started with a series of experiments conducted on various frames, created with a copper wire.
