Seoul Biennale for Architecture and Urbanism 2017
The “Imminent Commons” Biennale of Seoul 2017 is an exciting opportunity to reevaluate the significance and, even more elementally, the very on-going possibility of architecture vis à vis the contemporary city. The Biennale features The Cities Exhibition, installed in the main hall of the Dongdaemun Design Plaza, and offers the fascinating prospect of 50 different thematic exhibits coming from cities all over the world. Architettura Povera
Obra's first solo show entitled Architettura Povera opened in the BEB Gallery at the Rhode Island School of Design in 2004. The exhibition explored the guiding principles of experimentation unhindered by tradition, complete openness towards materials and processes, and the rejection of a defined style which characterized the "Arte Povera" movement of the late 60's and early 70's in Italy. The work is surrounded by an eight-foot Wall of Lessons constructed of 3/32" thick luan plywood interlocking units. Each unit is etched with a brief "lesson." In this manner the physical effort of assembling the wall, completed by a crew of 20 RISD students, is itself an educational experience. Obra Architects Exquisite Corpse
OBRA dismembers its sketchbooks to show them two-sided, page after page in continuous sequences. The sketchbooks contain drawings and notes recounting the design of several projects.

The development of the project for an Ultra-Light Pavilion in Shenzhen presents to us an opportunity to suspend relative disbelief and attempt an exemplary contribution.
