State Office de Knoop

The Knoopkazerne in the center of Utrecht dates from 1989 and served for decades as headquarters for the Royal Netherlands Army. The building has now been radically transformed into a combined office and meeting center for the national government. Commissioned by the consortium R Creators with Strukton, Ballast Nedam and Facilicom, cepezed produced the architectural design. Fokkema & Partners Architects was involved for the interior design and Rijnboutt for the urban design component. The original complex was characterized by a pronounced multitude of volumes with varying heights and floor dimen- sions as well as meandering façades with a smoke glass sun-blind. In the redevelopment designed by cepezed, drastic changes have been combined... More

equator

Upon realizing rapid growth, Equator retained Eastlake to design a larger office in the same building less than two years after our initial design. As a global packaging design and branding firm, it was important for Equator to identify key locations to display in-progress work, as well as areas to implement wall tattoos. Incorporating whimsical sea creature line art into the space, the workplace has a creative edge fit for a design firm. Additionally, the murals help communicate Equator's design process to both clients and recruits. More

Pandora

Pandora has been instrumental in changing the way we all listen to music, so why not use their workplace to pay homage to the 1980’s - which changed the face of music forever? The new office celebrates the decade's most iconic musicians, enshrining them in key meeting areas. On an abstract level, finishes and lighting in the office play a key role in communicating Pandora’s creative culture, with acid-washed carpet on the floors and 8-bit video game references on the walls as well as color changing accent lighting in the cafe. However, we really think it's the light-up dance floor straight out of Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean” music video that will make you want to rekindle your youth and bust a move when you visit the office. Quartz Media

Our design for Quartz (qz.com) accommodates the needs of their rapidly growing office while preserving the quirky, intellectually playful aspects of the company's ethos that they commonly refer to as their 'Quartziness'. The open floor plan layout is flexible with flowing circulation that encourages people to take different routes around the office (which promotes chance encounters with colleagues from different fields of expertise.) A broad expanse of "seating cubbies" lines the window wall; the cubbies provide open book storage for editors, and they have become a gathering destination for small group chats. A range of conference rooms provide ample meeting spaces for larger groups, and 'phone booth' rooms serve as quiet ret... More

Unilab Pharma Office

London and Mumbai based SAV Architecture + Design has recently completed a 120sqm open plan and minimal workspace for Unilab Pharma and Chemicals in Mumbai. Focusing on flexibility, transparency and tactility the design brings natural light and a fresh feel to the interiors to create a serene working oasis within the chaotic Mumbai context. Inspired with the form of chemical compositions, SAV conceptualised the lighting, furniture and flooring pattern to create a layered and textured design showcasing the different formulas that the company uses in making their products. All the partitions are of clear glass creating an end to end transparency that sets an overall lightweight mood as soon as one enters the space.  The work-spaces are a... More

Rabobank Croeselaan

Building and interior delivered following phased renovationRabobank's distinctive main office in Utrecht, which dates from the 1980’s, has been transformed into a dynamic working environment that will serve the bank well for the next 25 years, all thanks to a design by OIII architects. The original office hallways have made way for a flowing working environment. The spatial organisation sets a scene of rest and dynamism, analogous to the city where a dynamic centre is surrounded by tranquil suburbs. The shape of the building, which features three wings joining onto a central hub formed a forceful contour. Despite this, the spatial design has created a feeling of openness in which all the components connect to form a logical whole.Ways of wo... More

atlassian

What makes you enjoy going to work? For Atlassian it is the core business. The company develops software for cooperation and agile work processes and has been selected as best employer in the world. Everything is based on the idea that people achieve more when they enjoy their work. How that is manifested in practice is clear from the interior of the new Amsterdam office. An Amsterdam canal belt building dating from the 1950s has been converted into an open and informal workspace. The company’s character connects informally with the Amsterdam building’s local identity. Atlassian is an international company, but also aims to reflect the local identity in the atmosphere and design of its offices. The reference point in Amsterdam was... More

AVAST HQ OFFICE

Office interiors of Avast Software in itself reflects the free and liberal spirit of this company. The dominant feature is an internal staircase through all seven floors. Office spaces are complemented by a number of informal elements and activities such as corporate restaurant, cinema, recording studio, playing and relaxing area, library, playroom or workshop. Interior itself is designed in neutral tones with colorful accents (room cutoffs) in the form of a white carrugated metal. Strata Decision Technology

Strata is a software company focused on the idea that decisions drive healthcare, and that better information leads to better decisions. Expanding their existing space to the floor above mandated a physical connection. A bold staircase ties the two floors together and became the central artery of the workplace. It connects formal and informal gathering spaces, or HUBS, that encourage staff collaboration and interaction. We made sure branding—a core part of their company culture—was integrated into the design by creating branded elements that enhance the language of existing chalkboard infographics. Additionally, energetic pops of color link the public spaces. More

Spark44 London HQ

Workplace specialists align have completed a dynamic, highly-functional and client-sensitive workspace project for global creative agency Spark44, located over two storeys of The White Collar Factory, the major new office and retail campus on Old Street Roundabout, described by developers Derwent London as ‘one of our most ambitious projects to date’.Located on the 11th and part of the 12th floors of the building, the design approach for the new Spark44 London office, which is uniquely dedicated to fulfilling creative projects for Jaguar Land Rover, sought to achieve a balance between respect for the new building’s proportions and base-build materiality; the specific needs and usage patterns of the agency’s London team and the over-riding b... Levy Family Partners

Mogul Larry Levy gave Eastlake a twofold request for the design of his new family office, perched on the 19th floor of Riverpoint, one of Chicago’s newest skyscrapers.First off, he asked that the space be functional and comfortable for all of the companies it would house—a real estate investment firm, a trading group, regional restaurants headquarters and a law firm—with a mix of open workspaces, executive offices and a large conference room.Second, he acknowledged that this would be the last office he would build and he wanted it to capture his personality and the culture that he created. Larry couldn’t wait to talk about his rock and roll photo collection, as if James Taylor, Ray Charles and Amy Winehouse were part of the family around hi... More

One South Dearborn Lounge

One South Dearborn’s ownership group needed to improve their existing amenities program to help retain their anchor tenant and to market themselves as a modern office building. We gave the space a relaxed, lounge vibe to contrast with the building’s conservative, corporate interiors, adding the new amenities to a floor with an existing fitness center and property management office. Now tenants can drop by for a coffee in the lounge, arrange a meeting in the conference room or retreat from the daily grind in the yoga/massage area. More

Slayton Search Partners

Slayton Search Partners provides access to executive talent for global corporations. Accordingly, their new workplace needed to make an impressive impact on clients while still pleasing the staff. When they said they envisioned a swanky, penthouse loft vibe, we knew of the perfect place, and more importantly, we understood how to optimize the unusual geometry of the space and its quirks to make it work efficiently without sacrificing its cool factor. We used abrupt angles to divide large, exterior offices diagonally, giving them each window access and maximizing the wedge-shaped floor plan. Raw columns punctuate the space and contrast with premium finishes and lots of glass. The result is distinctive and cerebral, right in line with the com... More

International Consulting Firm

We designed this office for a well-known international consulting firm focused on helping organizations better leverage technology. It was vital that their workplace encourage collaboration, improve functionality and generate a strong sense of creative energy. Highly visible technology supports practicalities like exposed storage and flexible furniture and we employed a dichotomy of playful color against a rigid structure to create an intriguing laboratory vibe. The most successful projects usually involve significant collaboration, and this one realized its potential because the client’s creative director provided strong direction and critical feedback. He came to the table with a clear perspective that the space needed to loudly proclaim t... More

ActiveCampaign

In less than two years, marketing software company ActiveCampaign quadrupled its staff, becoming a buzzworthy name in the tech industry and one of the fastest growing companies in Chicago. CEO & Founder Jason VandeBoom envisioned a new office that was truly employee-centric; with flexible open workspace, social meeting areas, and quiet work rooms; giving employees options on how and where to work. ActiveCampaign aimed to avoid the monotony of a large corporate office, and worked with Eastlake to visualize a warm energetic office space that embodies the company culture. The location of the new headquarters, a 52,000 square foot single floor office in a hundred-year-old building, gave Eastlake Studio the opportunity to bring ActiveCampaign...
