Passive House Forest Retreat
Nestled within a mature forest in British Columbia's Coast Mountains, the Passive House Forest Retreat is a private residence designed to exist in dialogue with its landscape. Sited on a sloped lot surrounded by old-growth canopy, the home was conceived as both an act of environmental responsibility and architectural restraint.

The massing is organized around a gently cantilevered volume that reaches toward the mountain views, carving out a sheltered communal space below, a place to gather, rest, and inhabit the threshold between interior and forest. Our company Biodomes www.biodomes.eu designs and builds custom, one-of-a-kind glass, metal and concrete geodesic domes. We offer over 20 different geodesic dome models that can be sized and customized in a number of ways. We also build earth sheltered, green roof geodesic domes that can be insulated to passive house standards. The neighborhood of tomorrow
HEEMwonen launched an ambitious project creating a “neighborhood of tomorrow”. This large-scale renovation project provides a complete transformation of 153 homes in the neighborhood Kaalheide, Kerkrade. A total of 153 social housing units were sustainably renovated according to the passive house concept. The houses date from 1974. Thanks to an innovative approach the homes were fitted with a completely new façade, a new roof and solar panels. In only ten days the energy class was raised from D to A, providing the residents with a saving of € 100,- a month on their energy bill.
To achieve this high class FAKRO FTT U6 roofwindows were used to provide energy saving and lots of natural light. More
