Single-family house in Almada
Based on the premise of a single-family home in Almada, the project for Lot 48 seeks to establish a simple image that easily relates to the location. As such, a contemporary design was created that respects the constraints already defined and provides comfort that meets current daily requirements.

Triumcare - Psychology Clinic
Starting from an existing abandoned space, the aim of the project was to install three psychology offices, supported by a reception, a waiting area, two storage/technical areas and two sanitary facilities (men, women + reduced mobility).

The existing structure, from the outset, paved the way for a simple and functional layout to be established, with a unique “L” shaped path, around which the necessary compartments are located.

The three offices were installed to take advantage of the existing windows, the reception and waiting area immediately next to the only entrance, and the sanitary facilities in the place where there is already a water and sanitation network.

The existing volume is similar to the typical Minho house, rigid in shape and rudely built but intimately related to the site where it is located, a type of unsophisticated but charming rural ‘plaza’. To the existing condition, the architects have added a new and contemporary volume to balance the tension between the existing and the proposed form. Colour, materialization, and shape result in a purposeful distinction between ‘old and new.’

Simple volume blends old and new with sensitive house extension
In Porto, Portugal, the design of this house by fcc arquitectura aims to protect and existing building and surrounding garden while expanding the floor area to incorporate more contemporary living space.

Promoting a dialogue between old and new elements, the design solution confers neutrality with the main expanded volume. Build with simple exposed concrete with glass panels and coated with white lath, its simple form balances against the existing for a framework that fits with the environment.

Braamcamp Apartment
Initially, the project involved the interior refurbishment of a studio, built on the roof of a multifamily housing building.
When we started the demolitions, we found that the roof consisted of various extensions with different heights and materials of poor technical quality, and the exterior walls offered no thermal insulation.
Thus, a complete exterior and interior remodeling was carried out, with a new metal structure and roof.
Being a small apartment, we opened the space by limiting the compartmentalization to the bathroom and bedroom. The new kitchen opened to the living room, allowed to expand the leisure area, complementing it with a balcony.

Fisherman´s house rehabilitation in the historical centre of Ferragudo, Algarve, Portugal.
European property award winner.
Casa Vale is a project to replace a former fishermen’s house in the historic centre of Ferragudo, a fishing village on the Atlantic coast in Southern Portugal.
The original two-storey building was used for the storage of fishing nets and equipment at the basement level and living space with only basic amenities to the level above.
The concept was for a central light well which contains a sculptured timber staircase connecting all levels and spaces.
