La Selva
La Selva emerged from the renovation of a classic 1970s house, which in turn was the result of an extension of a typical Apulian trullo (a typical form of Apulian dwelling ndr). The intention was to revive the structure by giving it a new lease of life. The first intervention was to demolish the reinforced concrete roof built in the 1970s, together with the stringcourses also made of reinforced concrete. The windows - all irregular - were transformed into French windows by simply extending them downwards and maintaining the irregularity typical of Mediterranean architecture.

A young family bought a piece of land to build the house of their dreams. The plot is located in a new quarter of The Hague called Ypenburg. This particular area gives the opportunity to build any house you like, but... there are a few urban restrictions. One of these restrictions is the shape of the roof, and another one is the use of brickwork and/or wood in the facade.
The client had a vision of a house with a house for the two parents and a house for their two children.
