The Mary Cali Dalton Recreation Center in Tompkinsville Staten Island is a 65,000 square foot recreation and community center that replaces the former Cromwell Recreation Center demolished during Hurricane Sandy. The Center is a fully accessible, welcoming, and resilient public facility that responds to the needs of its community and represents the best traditions of public architecture. “How can this new Aquatic Centre effectively train Olympians, serve its community, and enhance the student experience. How can it operate ‘learn-to-swim’ programs while at the same time run a 1000 person swim meet?" In 2012, UBC sent more swimmers to the London Olympic Summer Games than anywhere in Canada, and had the most successful swim team in the country.
