Völs Regional railway bridges

Competition 2023, 1st place. In planning. A pair of bridges as a building block for sustainable mobility development—across Innsbruck and the surrounding area by tram. The concept focuses on the construction of two new bridges as elements of Innsbruck's urban development, to realize a continuous tram network from Rum to Völs, spanning a federal highway roundabout and two banks of the Inn River. Lucas Reisigl, OSTERTAG ARCHITECTS The supporting structure of the bridges is derived with minimal gestures from function, position, and the surrounding urban and topographical structure. The city does not end here, nor does it begin here; the bridges each mark transitions of an expanding urban body. Lucas Reisigl, OSTERTAG ARCHI... More

Railway Station Fritzens Wattens

The project's guiding concept was to develop the new railway station not merely as an infrastructure facility, but as an urban connecting element that enables barrier-free everyday mobility between the two communities for everyone. A broadly sweeping, generously dimensioned bridge structure made of timber and steel for pedestrians and cyclists is the central element, both functionally and visually. Andreas Buchberger Andreas Buchberger ON SHORT ROUTES At the Fritzens-Wattens mobility hub, the different modes of transport are not simply arranged side by side; instead, the structural design emerges from the integration of multimodal connections along short routes. The distance between the bicycle parking facilities in the interio... More

The Moving Kitchen

In Feb 2019, the Taiwanese society criticized heavily an expensive yet unsightly new tourism train. Forus, JC Architecture, instead of complaining, we wrote an open letter with encouragement and positivity to tell the Taiwanese society that Taiwanese designers can make a change. It led us to the opportunity to designTaiwan’s first-ever tourist train, “The Future,” eventually awarded the Japanese Good Design Award. 李國民攝影工作室 Kuomin Lee Recently, JC Architecture reimagined everyone’s impression of a train, building the first railway kitchen in Taiwan, named “The Moving Kitchen.” The logo of it, “R,” stands for “Restaurant, Railway, Reimagination,” we want to create a language th... Bangladesh Railway office building

Bangladesh Railway is an extremely important organization with a proud heritage. Therefore the head-office building of Railway needed to be such a building that will be an iconic building in the city. The way the building has been conceived is that of a multi-faceted sculpture that shifts away from the harsh sun light of the west and faces towards the south-east. This faceting not only improves the quality of light and reduces heat gain inside the building but it also creates an abstract sculptural quality of which will make the building extremely unique in the skyline of the CDB of Dhaka city. The building-abstractness will give it a timeless character which we feel is befitting for an organization like Bangladesh railway. More

Railway Museum Utrecht

The Railway Museum is situated at the rear of Maliebaan Station in the city centre of Utrecht. Considerable thought went into how the museum relates to its surroundings. The building consists of a large hall plus three exhibition rooms whose volumes project through the sloping roof. The outer wall is built in brickwork with window strips that are filled with glazing, grilles or sections of weather-boarding according to the interior functions. The structural frame resembles a rib cage, and is supported by columns which branch upwards like trees. Railway Museum Utrecht, the Netherlands by Arc2 architecten. More
