Tennis Clubhouse
In 2001, the Amsterdam tennis club Tie-Breakers had a clubhouse and a tennis hall built on the east side of Flevopark. The club has since grown considerably, and the building was in need of major maintenance work. This was used as an opportunity to enlarge the existing clubhouse and make it more sustainable.

The preliminary design was created by a number of club association members, including Sander Mirck. The plan was developed by Mirck Architecture and completed in 2025 by contractor Teerenstra. The construction team and club members celebrated the result together with the club's 30th anniversary.

The forest informs Faulkner Architects’ latest project tucked away in between the Californian trees
Close to the north shore of Lake Tahoe, Faulkner Architects completed a 4,500-square-foot four-bedroom house nestled in between pine and red fire trees. The architects shaped the building like a simple rectangular volume in order to minimize impact on the site.

An ebonized steel rainscreen protects the vulnerable wood-framed part of the house from wildfire, referring in function and texture to the bark of adjacent trees.

The materialization and fenestration reflect the behaviour of the forest that surrounds the building. Throughout the house the architects used cut basalt stone floors, unfinished reclaimed teak ceilings and floors, board-formed concrete, and white gypsum.
