DRD Studio is the recording studio and private living environment of Italian composer and producer Dario Faini (Dardust), designed by Ciliegio Esterno in Milan’s Città Studi district. Set within the ordinary fabric of a 1960s mixed-use residential block, the project reclaims an anonymous ground-floor former shop—cramped, repeatedly altered, and visually dominated by an awkward mezzanine—and turns it into a compact “proximity studio” that can operate at professional standards while remaining compatible with neighbours and street life. A Living Space Designed Around Music Initially conceived as a recording studio, the project evolved into a more comprehensive spatial program as architects reinterpreted its potential. On the site of single-story garage in Bushwick, we built a Willy Wonka factory for audio technology.  The new two-story facility contains a recording studio, an R&D lab, a vast assembly room, an anechoic testing chamber, and a lounge–all connected by an open metal stair that winds its way up to an expansive roof deck. Long known as a vibrant arts campus, the School of the Arts at the University of Nevada, Reno, has hosted the university’s art, music, theater, and dance departments at its arts complex designed by renowned Modernist architect Richard Neutra since 1962.
