Breaking waves turbines resort The tidal pool resort is a power plant that uses renewable energy to produce electricity. Located on the coast of North-West Scotland, a popular area for surfing, water activities, and renewable energy, the resort merges tourism with clean electrical energy generation. The entire resort sits on an artificial floating platform made from clusters of hollow hexagonal ballast-like columns housing vertical dual reversible turbines that can increase the resort's area by floating and locking sections into the frame. Altona Pier is a much-loved community landmark that has played a vital role in the growth of the suburb since the 1800s. With an industrial and shipping past, today the pier is enjoyed for promenading, swimming, fishing, boating and socialising. The new geometry is crafted to provide an experiential quality and fulfill the functional brief. The main pier offers 260m of widened length, supporting increased visitor numbers, ambulance access, bikes and prams to enjoy a relaxed stroll over the water. Overlooking the stadium at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia, you will find an expansive roof top recreation area atop a university housing complex. The expansive recreational roof deck common area was completed with Duradek Heritage Agate with cool roof qualities. Applied with adhesives, the 6 ft widths of vinyl sheets were heat welded for a completely water-tight seal. The scope of the project was the refurbishment of the pool area and its adjoining facilities at the Khar Gymkhana in Mumbai. Though an opening up of the adjoining café and extending areas of the cafe into the pool area, the proposal recalibrates the working of the space, integrating the entire space into one larger whole. The aesthetic of the proposal takes both geometric and colour inspiration from the Memphis Design Movement, where individual elements are characterised by colourful decorations, featuring asymmetrical shapes and geometries and accompanied by a multitude of seemingly jarring patterns at different scales.
