Japanese Lounge at Base Anfu by Red Design
Japanese Lounge is a high end, Japanese private dining and lounge located at the heart of the Former French Concession targeting a luxurious hotel dining experience. The design is a minimal and refined concept based on traditional Japanese design elements and details. Heavily researched Japanese interior principles and techniques have formed a simple, modern and respectful interior space. Following Wabi-Sabi principles, raw natural materials such as stone and rich wood play off subtle, elegant fabrics to create a timeless interior experience rooted in Japanese traditions. More

UMI by Red Design
In early 2017, Red design was appointed to design a new modern Japanese dining experience. Located at the high-end and popular Taikoo Hui mall, Umi is set to become the highlight of Shanghai in 2018. The interior brief was to create an interior and exterior design aesthetic that spoke Japanese and breathed western influence. A rich combination of classic modern western furniture pieces and Japanese detailing create a unique dining atmosphere not seen in Shanghai to date. More

Highline
Highline is an all day dining, lounge and bar located in the Ascott Serviced Apartments in central Shanghai. The design is a refined and minimal creation, drawing inspiration from US mid-century modernism though an LA luxe filter. The program and site were challenging: the dark, low ceilinged space was to function as an all-day venue for both hotel guests and visitors. Fortunately, an expansive terrace adjoins the space and we were able to extend the dining room onto this terrace, creating a sunlit skyroom, which forms a transition between the intimate dining room and the spectacular views from the terrace.
