This residential transformation project reinterprets a 1960s house through a careful strategy of structural reuse, volumetric clarity, and spatial densification. Situated on a corner plot within a heterogeneous urban fabric of varying building scales and typologies, the intervention preserves the footprint and foundational concrete frame of the existing house while extending vertically with a lightweight steel structure engineered to withstand seismic loads. The La Chanca-Pescadería Centre is an example of how architecture can be adapted to endure over time. It arose as an initiative of Almería City Council to rehabilitate the old Virgen del Socorro school, designed by Guillermo Langle in 1964, converting it into a community space focused on social integration, education and personal development. The Noucentista House in the centre of Igualada is conceived as a residence adaptable to the passage of time, which maintains its historical essence while transforming to respond to the needs of its inhabitants. An obsolete factory in the Poblenou neighbourhood of Barcelona has been carefully restored by Spanish architectural studio b720 Fermín Vázquez Arquitectos (b720). Once the Simon electrical material factory, the building has been transformed into Simon’s new corporate headquarters. The headquarters integrates over 350 employees previously dispersed across two offices into one unified campus. With some 120m2 and 3.20 meters high, this housing project provided us with many possibilities for improvement and knowing how to take advantage of every meter was essential. Finally we decided to distribute it in a living room and integrated kitchen, two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a master bedroom. This master bedroom has one of the bathrooms en suite and an integrated dressing room, which allows total privacy for this stay.
