Borgo Montecucco

The D.O.C. (Controlled Designation of Origin certification) wine produced on the hill on which Montecucco lies takes its name from the hamlet. The hamlet includes a small brick church, an agricultural building used as an oil mill, a residential building with a wine cellar below, and a complex of barns and warehouses. It dates back to between the first half of the eighteenth century and the beginning of the nineteenth century. Pieve di San Giusto a Balli

Restoring an 11th century parish church means knowing its history and, above all, the causes of its abandonment, sometimes for historicized but incongruous interventions and harmful to its most intimate organism. The complex consists of two buildings of different origins, the church and the vicarage, the result of overlaps occurred over time, some of significant historical value, other additions of recent eras, lacking in value and easily recognizable, as well as a small walled cemetery owned by the municipality. A project of reusing a 15th-century building

ZIKZAK Architects participated in the competition "Reuse the Nymphaeum - Genazzano (Rome) – a project of reusing Bramante's Nymphaeum. The Nymphaeum is a forgotten Renaissance pavilion built in the early 15th century in a rural area near Rome. It was the main element of a huge garden with several lakes and a small river, located on the slope of a hill next to the main entrance to the settlement. The exact purpose of the building is still unknown. Today, the Nymphaeum is a ruined pavilion, so the task for the competition participants was to adapt it to modern life, using it as a theater and a public park.
