Floodgate
Floodgate is a uniquely modern 17-story building with significant ground-floor restaurant space fronting the River Walk and 63 apartment units on the upper tower floors. Designed for a dense urban site, the residential tower employs varying asymmetrical floor plates within three stacked tiers, responding to views from the site and providing optimal sunlight to the River Walk below.
The design acknowledges and reinforces the historic context with contemporary architecture. Southerleigh
The Southerleigh Brewhouse celebrates the architecture and soul of the 1890s vintage building. Together with Joel Mozersky Design, we worked together to bring the gritty magnificence of the Brewhouse back to life, as if it had never shut down. Clayton Korte retained vestiges of the deep history at Pearl through the re-purposing of historic equipment into decorative and functional pieces. These icons of the past have been scattered throughout the 5,000 square foot restaurant and 2,600 square foot Brewery.

The Bottling Dept. Food Hall
Originally constructed in 1894, a devastating fire claimed the historic Pearl Bottling House in 2003. Pearl salvaged as much from the rubble as possible, and hired Clayton Korte to rebuild the 13,132-square foot-structure as a modern interpretation of a lost Classical Revival jewel that would serve as a venue for emerging chefs and culinary talent.
Located at the heart of the historic Pearl campus, the Bottling Department sits along the San Antonio River and is the city’s first food hall that houses local chefs. An anchor in the Pearl campus, the building is surrounded on all sides by a mixture of residential apartments and condos, offices, retail shops, restaurants, and Hotel Emma.
