Ernest E. Tschannen Science Complex
The 96,631-square-foot Ernest E. Tschannen Science Complex at California State University, Sacramento (Sac State), designed by Los Angeles-based CO Architects, serves as an educational and cultural hub for students, faculty, visitors, and the greater Sacramento community. The new five-story, $91.5-million building features a state-of-the-art, energy-efficient, light-filled science facility providing teaching and research laboratories for the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. According to the university, the facility is designed as a space for students to investigate solutions for climate change, healthy aging, and many other worldwide challenges.

Linx
SGA converted a former Verizon warehouse into Linx, a 185,000 square foot LEED Gold certified campus for science and technology companies. The façade, coined “fun industrial,” features hanging screens, custom still frames in mesh, vertical fins, corrugated metal, and a color-changing material called Alucobond Spectra. Exterior courtyards and a dramatic multi-story atrium provide a rich setting for collaboration. The bold and innovative design offers highly flexible and efficient research space in concert with a unique array of on-site amenities including a bike room, manicured patios, courtyards, and Bocce courts. Williams International
A world leader in the development and manufacturing of small gas turbine engines, Williams International had outgrown its former facility. It would take a unique property to accommodate WI’s over 600 employees and have room for its turbine engine R&D development and advanced manufacturing. Strangely enough, it was in an empty movie studio in where WI would find its new home. The former sound stages were converted into approximately 50,000 sf of advanced manufacturing cells for turbine engines, and the 200,000 sf office space, spread across three floors, was modernized to include premium amenities for WI’s employees, including a rec. room, fitness center, corporate store, and cafeteria as well as coffee nooks and kitchenettes on each flo...
