GNDM | Cantarini
The exhibition, curated by Luigi Gallo, Anna Maria Ambrosini Massari and Yuri Primarosa and organized in collaboration with the Gallerie Nazionali Barberini Corsini in Rome, illustrates the fully modern flair of the young Simone Cantarini through a selection of 56 paintings. Born in Pesaro in 1612 and who died prematurely in 1648 under mysterious circumstances, Simone Cantarini-the greatest Marche painter of the 17th century-is celebrated 28 years after the memorable exhibition organized in Bologna by Andrea Emiliani. GNDM | Allestimento Fregio dell'Arte della Guerra
The project concerns the new set up of the panels of the Frieze of the Art of War in the Ducal Palace in Urbino, a masterpiece of Renaissance architecture. The 72 bas-reliefs - sculpted by Ambrogio Barocci, partly from drawings by Francesco di Giorgio Martini and partly from drawings by Roberto Valturio - depict machines, technological devices and instruments of war, and are a synthesis of Federico da Montefeltro's talent and interest in mathematics, exact sciences and technology.
