COOOP has brought its innovative design expertise to Lahore, revamping the city's commercial landscape with the introduction of Packages Mall, a prominent shopping center. Recognizing Lahore's historical moniker as the City of Gardens, the design concept draws inspiration from the city's lush greenery and horticulture. This influence is evident in the mall's layout, which features pockets of greenery surrounding the building. Envisioned as a harmonious integration with nature, the mall is conceived as a built form immersed within the landscape. Inspired by the tropical Queensland climate, the newly transformed Hyperdome North Mall creates a vibrant and memorable environment for shoppers through its playful design. Key dwell spaces are characterised by vibrant colours and textures framed by dappled sunlight which pours in from the lightweight ceiling canopy above, reminiscent of an external pergola; while the surrounding mall areas are kept neutral to highlight the retail offering. Bespoke seating and planters created in close collaboration with Quatro Design further complement the ‘landscape’ and ‘play’ theme which runs throughout. Oneworks was commissioned to design a new luxury outlet destination to support the local community and tourism from local towns. The project assumptions originate with the territorial context, in addition to the commercial objectives. Context is the interventions topography, which uses the hillside to create a "vertical" complex. Terraced parking lots follow the terrains natural profile and the interior pedestrian path winds following a slight slope diagonally across the hillside. Awarded to Novena Point Pte Ltd in 2002 by the Urban Redevelopment Authority, the site is located at the Fringe Centre of the Novena Planning Area, and is intended to be an urban development providing an integrated living and working environment with convenient links to Novena MRT Station. The Square 2 development operates as an essential connective component within the Novena Square region, integrating Novena Medical Centre and Square 2 Shopping Centre with a Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station and its extensive underground linkages including the nearby Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
