The plot is in the southern part of Paros Island. It has a southwest orientation on the long side, overlooking the sea, the bay of Aliki, and Antiparos. The building rests on the hillside and adapts to the topography and the terrain's morphology. Large transverse walls penetrate the slope. These walls form the backyards and give continuity to the interior of the house towards the landscape. Situated in Bucharest, near the Politehnica student campus, the small apartment was designed to accomodate future students or a young family. The apartment’s initial layout was maintained, two rooms and an enclosed kitchen, one bathroom, and the design requirements were budget oriented and fast build time. The lack of natural light and tight space dictated that the walls and the furniture should be white for optimal light bounce and creating the sensation of a larger space. This is a 4 bedroom apartment with the drawing, living, kitchen, dining and a beautiful balcony in the front. The client came to us with a desire to create a home with a modest and timeless interior. They wanted their residence to be very simple, modern, and maintenance-free. The interiors follow a subtle color scheme, highlighting the luxurious grey Italian marble flooring, rich materials, and exquisite décor details. Unexpected touches like the exaggerated lights, brass artifacts, accents, and illusive patterns in the passage add surprise elements. The "screen" towards the gardenAn intervention is made to a small-scale amorphous building accommodating an individual house. The interventions and additions made over time created a garage and a series of annexes in different shapes and sizes, placed without any particular rule in mind. The project aims to perfect the house filling it with functional spaces while also cleansing and organising the exterior space of the patio. The project acts as an intervention on a pre-existing structure in order to provide arenas for various activities – subject to change in time – but also to open up the interior, connecting it with the green in the patio.The open ground floor brings together the daily activities of the entire family. The vast space, almost free of any compartments or delimitations, offers protection from the street while linking the garden and the pool terrace with the green area in the south-east.
