2. What are the clients like? (kids, etc). What were their main priorities for this space?
The clients work in design, with an emphasis on brand development and corporate leadership. They have two young children and a focus was placed on creating an open, family oriented space which could serve to facilitate creativity at all levels. We used durable, solid materials and natural finishes that will age well and patina with use.

New York Upscale Townhouse Home to Posh Black Wine Cellar
Vin de Garde Modern Wine Cellar Designs and Curious Yellow Designs’ collaborative ‘Black Cellar’ wine cellar design bridges modern and contemporary elements that match seamlessly with this New York apartment-style abode.
The team at Curious Yellow Designs was introduced to Vin de Garde Modern Wine Cellar Designs Inc. when their New York City-based client requested the addition of a custom wine room in his home. Originally, the space was a 16,000 sq. ft. apartment building comprised of fifteen separate apartments. House on a Ravine
This new 7,000 square foot home backs onto a conservation area in north Toronto. The client requested a modern, open residence that would take advantage of the spectacular natural views, with a refined material palette.
Exterior materials consist of a rubble stone base of Ontario limestone, custom mahogany windows and exterior finished stucco. Flashings, canopies and the garage door are zinc. An exterior mahogany screen at the front provides privacy from the street for the two storey high glazing.
