Sportsfacility in a green landscape
Just outside the centre of the city of Assen, to the southwest, one finds the Asser woods, and right next to it lies Stadsbroek, a recreational area with some of the main sports facilities of the city. Football pitches, a swimming pool, a velodrome and a sportsfacility, that opened in 2012 and was designed by the architectural studio ZJA.
The objective was rather modest, one big hall for the students of nearby schools to accommodate their lessons in physical education. During the weekends and evenings amateur indoor sports clubs would use it. PARK SCHOOL
Newly built Campus Oude God with nursery and primary school with sports hall
(According to passive standard for 650 pupils in existing park master plan)
The new campus in the 'Oude God' park area in Mortsel accommodates the three existing urban primary schools and kindergartens from the immediate vicinity. The new school complex needs to be a sustainable, energy-efficient building offering cultural and social added value. The competition for the design project for the new school was won in 2005 by Binst Architects. Two years later, the city council decided to upgrade the design to a passive school, and the project joined the DBFM Schools of Tomorrow programme in 2011.
