The project involved the interior design and furnishing of a house designed by Sinas Architects & Maria Mamoura. The curved walls of the house presented a significant challenge in redesigning both the common areas and the master bedroom. The fireplace was designed as a cone that protrudes from the wall, aligning with the architecture of the rest of the house, where straight or orthogonal volumes are absent. Pénde Natura consists of two independent small houses, Keli and Mandri, meaning Cell and Pen, respectively. The Cell (on the right) is composed of two reconstructed buildings dating before 1955, while the Pen (on the left) is a new construction that follows the footprint of an old sheep pen. The Moustis cells (cell from the Greek word keli referring to old traditional small spaces), named after the nickname of their previous owner (Moustis, derived from 'must,' the grape juice before fermentation), involve the reconstruction of two adjoining cells in a "L" shape, transforming them into a residence that can accommodate up to four people. The first cell houses the bedroom of the residence, while the second includes the kitchen, living room (which can accommodate two people), and the bathroom. On the eastern part of the Greek island of Naxos, amidst an primitive landscape, far away from the saturation of tourism, a simple single story vacation house was built within the confines of a deserted olive grove. The summerhouse is located on a small rocky island of lake Suontee.There is an existing small fishing cabin built by previous generations in the 1960’s as well as a sauna building from the 1980’s on the island. When the fishing cabin became too small for the client, the decision was made to build a new summerhouse that would better serve island living.
