Gan Wei Teahouse is located on Jiujiang Road in Shanghai, inside an old building near the Bund, which used to be the Securities Building of the Republican era. Once the client approached me, saying that he wanted to set up a brand-new type of teahouse with two specific requirements: firstly, the teahouse aims at catering to the surrounding area instead of becoming an internet sensation that might bring unnecessary pressure to potential customers; secondly, the teahouse should attract people to come in and take a seat, in the meantime make them realize that drinking tea is such a relaxing activity. A historical Georgian ruin transformed into a Japanese Teahouse while respecting the building’s own unique charm. The challenge was introducing a Japanese cultural icon into the heart of old Tbilisi with a nod to Georgian cultures. This project is located in Sanxingtang Village, Gulao Water Town, Guangdong Province, the main function of the building is to provide a public space for afternoon tea or leisure gatherings. Aether Architects, Racol Creative   Gulao Water Town has its unique regional texture, the ponds and houses present a regular and free intertwined network landform，although this interpenetrating organic state is man-made, it looks like nature that has existed since ancient times.
