The Golf Pavilion, situated at the halfway point of the golf course, serves as a rest stop offering amenities such as snacks, beverages, and washroom facilities. Designed as a strict geometric structure within a natural landscape, the pavilion comprises a 41 sqm footprint tucked beneath an extended roof overhang that effectively doubles its usable space, drawing golfers in. The asymmetrical roof, weighted towards the back, imparts a directional motion toward the next hole. At the approach, a metal screen with angular bars is a nod to the clubs in a golfer’s bag and conceals the washroom doors. Haus 2+ is a modern and sustainable timber infill that redefines the entrance to Holzmarkt 25, a cooperative-led urban cultural quarter on the banks of the river Spree in Berlin’s Friedrichshain district. Designed by Office ParkScheerbarth, a Berlin-based practice for architecture and urban planning, Haus 2+ is the first all-timber building in Holzmarkt 25. Hidden in a large tree plantation in the suburbs of Hangzhou is a prefab prototype house that the wellington firm Bonnifait + Giesen designed in collaboration with Jimu, a Chinese design and manufacturing company.MiniHut feels grander than its 36 square metres, thanks to a high stud that contains living areas in the main volume and sleeping areas on a mezzanine. Additional modules, meanwhile, have been designed to serve as entrances, utility sheds and covered decks. Straddling a railway line in Paris’s Clichy-Batignolles quarter, the site demanded the lightest-weight construction method possible. This is where the wood came into its own. Above Green Office® ENJOY’s baseplate rises a classic beam-and-post structure of glued spruce and pine laminate, its floors made of cross-laminated pine. As for the façades, they are constructed using a solid timber frame with sterling board (OSB) and mineral wool, and finished with aluminium cassettes. Acting as a natural carbon store, the structure’s 2,700m³ of Scandinavian and Austrian timber hold 520 tonnes of CO2, while the construction process expended 2,900 fewer tonnes of CO2 than a conventional building project.
