The Höghult house is a part of a large estate with several old buildings in the middle of the Swedish landscape with old farms, large fields and endless views over the green forest. The site is steep, with the building on the very top, overlooking the forest and an adjacent lake. The building consists of two equally sized volumes, one closed horizontal timber part and one open timber framing part. In the closed volume there is a sauna, shower and bedroom. The site of Daylighthouse 2 is next to the huge lake IJsselmeer. In between the lake and the house is a beautiful swamp for birds. Almere planned row houses on this location and the town house is the end of a row facing south west. Mirck Architecture translated the wishes of the client into a wooden cube of 9 by 9 by 9 meter. The facade, inner space and climate are influenced by sunlight and daylight. The particular structure of the cube is shown everywhere and continued in the plot wall and the shed.The ground floor living space is fully glazed to the south and west side. A young family bought a piece of land to build the house of their dreams. The plot is located in a new quarter of The Hague called Ypenburg. This particular area gives the opportunity to build any house you like, but... there are a few urban restrictions. One of these restrictions is the shape of the roof, and another one is the use of brickwork and/or wood in the facade.
