small family house

The design of a small house on a theoretically large plot (1220m2) although seemingly easy, was a significant design challenge for us. Although the plot is large, only the part with an area of 382.5 m2 is a plot that can be built on (according to the local spatial development plan). The building part of the plot has a triangular shape, which in combination with the other parameters from the local spatial development plan (including at least 45% of biologically active area and at least 2 parking spaces for passenger cars) was a significant limitation but also a challenge. RESE Architekci Fortunately, the investor contacted us before purchasing the plot in question, which allowed us to analyze all the limitations and possibilities of... More

The Cabanon

The Cabanon is a fully equipped apartment of 6.89 m² including two infrared saunas and a whirlpool bath. It is organized into four spaces, extravagantly different in materials and heights: a 3 m-high living room, a 1.14 m-high bedroom with plenty of storage, a toilet with a rain-shower, and a spa. The spa is the most enclosed space of the Cabanon: the room within a room. The Cabanon is probably the smallest apartment in the world; certainly the smallest with a spa. Ossip Architectuur Fotografie The Cabanon is the conversion of an existing attic used for storage into a living space. It is located on the top floor of a 1950’s residential building in the centre of Rotterdam. Its inside dimensions are H: 3 m, W: 1,97 m, L: 3,6... More

Casa Kuvo

Casa Kuvo was commissioned to us in 2021 for the coastal locality of Matanzas in Chile, known for its weather conditions that favor the practice of water and wind sports. The brief called for a small unit of only 70 m2, with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, suited for a younger population and preferably spread across two stories to make the most of the views towards the ocean. Manu Granados Manu Granados Manu Granados Volumetrically and chromatically reduced to a white prism of 6 x 6 x 6 m, the outward expression of the house is rather abstract and barren. The compact form has to do with extreme rationalization of the layout in order to maximize the available floor space, while the chromatics enters into a dynamic interplay w... More

Located on the southern slope of a historic centre in Santo Domingo, Ecuador, the home is designed for a microbiologist whose work on COVID-19 research means she requires an isolated space so as not to compromise the health of her family. Credit: Jag Studio Constructed as a modular system of pine wood and metal accessories, the dimension of the room and its modulation respond to the format of the pieces used in order to minimize waste.
