This 11,054-square-foot development makes the most of an urban infill lot with four luxury townhomes above a 12-car parking garage. Each townhome was constructed as four modules, and the entire development was installed in just three days. Simplistic and modern, are the adjectives used to describe the Verde Point apartments in Arlington, Va. The fresh community consists of two buildings, one that is 10-stories tall and houses 162 apartments, along with a low building featuring a parking garage, grocery store and 39 residential units. Opened in July 2015, the Verde Point apartments were created as a way to address the housing demand in the vicinity to the Courthouse Metro Station.The architect, Antunovich Associates, inspired by the surrounding cityscapes of neighboring Alexandria and Washington, D.C., designed the tower to offer residents panoramic views from their living spaces. MetroPlace is a 342 unit, 46-storey development in Burnaby’s Metrotown neighbourhood. The residential tower component sits on top of a 4-storey commercial podium on Beresford, a 5-storey stacked townhouse podium component on Telford, and a series of 2-storey townhouses along the site’s southern property line. The project incorporates up to sixteen thousand square feet of city-owned community amenity space, granted in exchange for an additional amenity density bonus.MetroPlace is the first high density development to take advantage of the new “supplemental community benefit density bonuses” for Burnaby’s town centres.
