Carroll Gardens Brownstone
Located on one of the defining residential streets of Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn, this renovation of an 1899 brownstone by DEMO Architects reworks a historic townhouse around the needs of contemporary family life. Rather than a cosmetic restoration, the intervention reorganises the building through a series of architectural and environmental upgrades that improve flexibility, energy performance, and long-term comfort. At the same time, it retains the character and spatial continuity of the original structure.

West 88th St. Townhouse
Interior renovation of town house on Upper West Side of Manhattan. This was a project where we worked closely with the Owner who was very involved in the design process especially with the finishes.
The overall design approach called for retaining much of the industrial core & shell feeling of the restored row house as a backdrop for the design.The brick was exposed on the exterior walls. Plumbing risers were often exposed or veiled with a perforated metal wrap. A perforated metal ovoid closet stands out as an industrial sculptural object in the parlor level entry. The industrial black steel stairs carry the industrial feel from top to bottom of the 5-story building.
