To mark the 20th anniversary of the SAP Arena in Mannheim, SCOPE Architekten realized a comprehensive make-over of the SAP hospitality suite. Within just a few weeks, the 140-square-meter space inside the multifunctional arena was transformed into a spatial expression of SAP’s evolution – from a data-driven enterprise to a cloud-based company. Transforming an existing home means working with a context that already has its own structure, materials and history. In Apartment ZM, designed by architect Anna Paszkowska-Thurow from ANNA THUROW Architecture and interiors studio, the challenge was to adapt a 118-square-metre, two-level apartment for a mother and daughter returning to their family home. Hubland II is part of the transformation of the former Leighton Barracks in Würzburg. Located on a former military site directly adjacent to the State Garden Show park of 2018, the project develops a new residential neighborhood. Four residential buildings with a total of 112 rental apartments complement the already completed Hubland I development with 175 apartments, completing the “Wohnen am Hubland” district with a total of 287 apartments. Located at Vienna’s Franz-Josefs-Bahnhof, AQ1 Althan Quartier Francis transforms a late twentieth-century railway station into a contemporary mixed-use urban district while retaining the architectural value and embodied carbon of the existing structure. In 2001, the Amsterdam tennis club Tie-Breakers had a clubhouse and a tennis hall built on the east side of Flevopark. The club has since grown considerably, and the building was in need of major maintenance work. This was used as an opportunity to enlarge the existing clubhouse and make it more sustainable. Pakhuis Santos:  Restoration and transformation into a new home of the Nederlands Fotomuseum Pakhuis Santos, located in Katendrecht, Rotterdam, was built 1901-1902 and designed by architects Kanters and Stok and commissioned by Blauwhoedenveem. It is an exceptional example of warehouse architecture from the period when the Rotterdam Port was in full development. The project involves the transformation of an apartment occupying the rural part of an 18th-century farmhouse. Fribourg farmhouses of that era housed both living quarters and farm functions under one roof.
