DEEP GREEN: A laboratory of Chinese Rural Future
“DEEP GREEN” is an independent exhibition curated by ArchiDogs and Qingyun Ma (DAMA Design), responding to the 2023 Venice Biennale’s theme “Laboratory of the Future,” focusing on the erosion of locality in China’s rural transformation under rapid urbanization. Amid the parallel forces of rural revitalization and counter-urbanization, the countryside is increasingly becoming an extension of urban expansion, while its social structures and cultural foundations are fragmenting.

“Reconceptualizing Urban Housing” focuses on the collective expertise of nine women-led architectural studios
Reconceptualizing Urban Housing is part of the 2023 Time Space Existence exhibition. Organized by the European Cultural Centre (ECC), it takes place at the Venice Architectural Biennale. With the global housing crisis predicted to impact 1.6 billion people by 2025, especially in urban centers, there is an urgent need to increase the number of affordable homes (according to UN-Habitat, 96,000 new affordable homes are required daily).
While the housing crisis has placed an impetus on building homes faster, many social factors are being overlooked, including an emphasis on community building, identity, and livability. The issues are global, however each situation will differ according to the city and its context. As a timely exhibition, Recon... More

David Adjaye’s Kwaeε serves as a temporal device at Venice Architectural Biennale
Kwaeε is the newest of Ghanaian-British architect David Adjaye’s earth-based social sculptures. On display at the Venice Architectural Biennale 2023, Kwaeε is both a viewing platform and a venue for programmed events.
Michelle Äärlaht
Kwaeε translates as “forest” in Twi (the language of the Akan people in Ghana and Côte d'Ivoire). Made entirely of wood with a black-stained finish, the sculpture’s striking form and materiality embrace the qualities of its namesake. Kwaeε is designed in the shape of a triangular prism — a 13-meter-tall structure, with an area of 78 square meters, its construction, doorway, window, and platform are amalgamated in one single... Depicted by Canaletto and other masters, and photographed countless times as the impressive but anonymous backdrop o... More
