Dorshada resort is a beachfront resort located in Chonburi, Thailand, consist of 4 types of contemporary Thai-style buildings. This project is to re-facade an existing inland 5 stories hotel building as the client wanted to have a modern luxury architectural style to attract younger age tourists and new customers.     As the strong selling point of Dorshada resort is Thai design characteristic, along with the composition of Thai-style buildings, so our designing team decided to keep the accent of “Thainess” and combined with modern architectural design. Campbells Bay Bush Residence

This new home in Campbell’s Bay is built to the rear of a natural creek. Surrounded by native bush, views to the beautiful surroundings are thoughtfully framed from each internal space. Exterior materials were carefully selected to allow the home to settle gently into the tranquil, native bush surroundings, while the use of timber features across the interior spaces speak to the outside environment. To the exterior, soft grey vertical cedar contrasts with a light clay-toned brick cladding, and is grounded by dark plaster render. Vertical timber screens to the entry and outdoor spaces elongate the façades upwards while serving practical purposes through shading weather and increasing privacy. The home is designed in an ‘L’ shaped floor plan,... More

THE WINGED HOUSE

A private family residence situated on a uniquely shaped triangular plot, the Winged House frames the site with two prominent forms – the trapeziums. These forms open towards the main view at the back of the site where 3 existing majestic palms are, and of lush greenery. These embracing forms carve out and frame a middle garden for friendly and private gatherings. In response to the tropical climate context, the formal exploration took a turn from cutting openings from a pure trapezoid form to separating roof from form. The form draws from the understanding of traditional Malay architecture where the house itself is climatically responsive to bring comfort to its inhabitants. The form of the traditional Malay house is reinterpreted i... More
