Cayucos Ridge Barn
Flanking 30 acres of Syrah vineyard along the Santa Lucia Range this simple wood-skinned barn houses vineyard farming equipment, grape picking bins, tool storage and an open-air workshop area. An off the grid structure, roof mounted crystalline PV modules recharge a battery bank located in the barn. The vineyard manager and occasional guests experience the Coastal Live Oak filled woods to the east and the vineyard on the west. Materials are selected for their simple elegance and long-term durability. Ebonized cedar siding and weathering steel clad the building skin. Interior spaces are paneled with raw plywood and are contrasted with painted cabinetry.

Casa de Uco Winery borns with the concept of producing high quality wines which really expresses the authenticity of their own vineyards and soils.For this reason it was decided to build a small, didactic and simple winery that would have small volumen vats & tanks of different materials. By this way the winery would be very useful to do a lot of research by fermenting parcels and soils independenty.One of the premise was to build a winery in which wine amateurs and enthusiasts could easily understand how a winery works and how the grape turns into wine. From the beginning, the Master Plan of this property was conceived in various phases of development: hotel, bungalows, villas and winery.It’s difficult to achieve this organic process when embarking on nature and environmental projects. In any complex project, resolving unknown issues can lead to even superior results. The true challenge was to preserve the untouched soil in its natural state, without intervening in the picturesque scenery. Wine cellars have been transformed over the years creating a series of parallel activities to the operation of the vineyard that now mark a challenge of developing a program that allows that these two activities are carried out at the same time.
Viñedo De Coté is located in Ezequiel Montes, Querétaro, Mexico and presented this challenge to Serrano Monjaraz Arquitectos to resolve the work and visit needs in a fantastic site of 8 ac.
